Clearing Trouble Codes

The following actions will erase the diagnostic trouble codes and freezed frame data.

1. Operating the OBD-II scan tool (complying with SAE J 1978) or Toyota hand-held tester according to instructions to erase the codes.

NOTICE: If the Toyota hand-held tester switches the ECM from normal mode to check mode or vice-versa, or if the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or 0FF during check mode, the diagnostic trouble codes anc freezed frame data will be erased.

2. Removing the "EFI" fuse or disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.

NOTICE: If the battery cable is disconnected the memory functions of all systems (radio stations, etc.) will be erased, so make note of any necessary settings and restore them following battery reconnection.
