Checking the Basics

^ Record diagnostic codes before disconnecting the battery.
- Any diagnostic codes retained by the computer will automatically be erased when the battery terminal is removed.

^ Separation of the engine oil dipstick gauge, oil filler cap and PCV hose may cause the engine to operate out of timing specification.

^ Disconnected, loose or damaged air induction components between the mass air flow (MAF) meter and cylinder head will allow air suction and also cause the engine to operate out of timing specification.
