Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The engine coolant temperature sensor measures engine temperature by sensing water temperature. The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses this information for determining the proper air/fuel mixture for all conditions.

LOCATION

The sensor is threaded into the cylinder head near the distributor.
