Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The Intake Air Temperature Sensor determines the temperature of the air entering the engine. The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses the sensor data to compensate for changes in air density because of temperature changes.

OPERATION

The Intake Air Temperature Sensor is a temperature sensitive resistor. It's resistance increases as it's temperature decreases.
