Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. Inspect Throttle Body.

On-Vehicle Inspection Of The Throttle Body:

a. Check that the throttle linkage moves smoothly.


2. Inspect Throttle Position Sensor.

a. A/T: Disconnect the throttle cable from the linkage.

b. A/T and California: Apply vacuum to the Throttle Opener.

c. Disconnect the sensor connector.






d. Insert SST (0.5 or 0.7 mm wire gauge) between the throttle stop screw and stop lever. (SST 09240-00020)

Throttle Position Sensor Terminal ID:

Throttle Position Sensor Terminals - Resistance Values:

e. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.

f. Reconnect the sensor connector.

g. Reconnect the throttle cable.
