Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit:

Component Tests and General Diagnostics


INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR INSPECTION

1. Remove IAT Sensor

2. Inspect IAT Sensor and connector for damage.






3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance: Temperature

-20° C (-4° F) 10.0 - 20.0 k ohms
0° C (32° F) 4.0 - 7.0 k ohms
20° C (68° F) 2.0 - 3.0 k ohms
40° C (104° F) 0.9 - 1.3 k ohms
60° C (140° F) 0.4 - 0.7 k ohms
80° C (176° F) 0.2 - 0.4 k ohms
