Transaxle Installation

1. INSTALL TRANSAXLE TO ENGINE
Align the input shaft spline with the clutch disc and install the transaxle to the engine.

Torque:
A Bolt: 64 N-m (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft-lbf)
B Bolt: 46 N-m (470 kgf-cm, 34 ft-lbf)




2. INSTALL REAR END PLATE
Install the rear end plate and torque the 4 bolts.

Torque: 9.3 N-m (95 kgf-cm, 82 in-lbf)




3. REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE
Install the stiffener plate with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 37 N-m (380 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf)




4. INSTALL ENGINE LH MOUNTING SET BOLTS
Raise the engine left side and install the 3 set bolts.

Torque: 64 N-m (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft-lbf)




5. INSTALL SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER
a. Install the suspension crossmember in place, then install and tighten the 4 bolts.

Torque: 113 N-m (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf)




b. Install the speed sensor bracket to the suspension crossmember.




c. Install the suspension arm with the bolt and nut to the rear axle hub.

Torque: 103 N-m (1.050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)




d. Install the lower arm with the bolt to the suspension crossmember.

Torque: 132 N-m (1,350 kgf-cm, 98 ft-lbf)




6. INSTALL ENGINE REAR MOUNTING

Torque:
Transaxle side
77 N-m (790 kgf-cm, 57 ft-lbf)
Crossmember side
64 N-m (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft-lbf)
Through bolt
87 N-m (890 kgf-cm, 64 ft-lbf)




7. INSTALL CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER
Place the release cylinder and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 12 N-m (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)




8. INSTALL ENGINE FRONT MOUNTING

Torque:
Transaxle side
77 N-m (790 kgf-cm, 57 ft-lbf)
Body side
73 N-m (740 kgf-cm, 54 ft-lbf)
Through bolt
96 N-m (980 kgf-cm, 71 ft-lbf)




9. REMOVE ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE




10. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE
a. Install 2 new gaskets and the exhaust pipe.
b. Install the 4 bolts.
c. Torque the "A" bolts.

Torque: 62 N-m (630 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf)




d. Install and torque the 3 nuts.

Torque: 62 N-m (630 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf)




11. CONNECT CONTROL CABLES
a. Install the 2 retainer to the cables.
b. Connect the cables to the linkage with the 2 washers and clips.




12. INSTALL LH AND RH DRIVE SHAFTS
13. FILL TRANSAXLE WITH GEAR OIL

Oil grade:
API GL-3 or GL-4
Viscosity:
SAE 75W - 90
Above - 18 °C (0 °F) SAE 90
Below - 18 °C (0 °F) SAE 75W
Capacity:
2.6 liters (2.7 US qts, 2.3 Imp. qts)

14. INSTALL UNDER COVER
Install the under cover and 5 bolts.
15. INSTALL REAR WHEELS AND LOWER VEHICLE




16. CONNECT VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR




17. CONNECT BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR AND GROUND CABLE




18. INSTALL STARTER
a. Install the starter.
b. Install and torque the 2 bolts.

Torque: 39 N-m (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf)

c. Connect the connector and wire to the starter.




19. INSTALL LH ENGINE MOUNTING STAY
Install the mounting stay with the 2 bolts.

Torque:
Body side: 73 N-m (740 kgf-cm, 54 ft-lbf)
Transaxle side: 25 N-m (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)




20. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOUSING ASSEMBLY WITH AIR HOSE
21. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY
22. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
23. PERFORM ROAD TEST
Check for abnormal noises and smooth shifting.
