DTC 51

DTC 51 - Switch Condition Signal

NOTICE: When the automatic transmission shift lever is in the "D", "2", "L" or "R" shift position, or when the air conditioning switch is ON or when the accelerator pedal is depressed, DTC 51 (Switch condition signal) is output. This is normal operation.

- INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT.
HINT: Confirm that the transmission is in a neutral gear.

- INSPECT A/C SWITCH CIRCUIT.
HINT: Confirm that the main A/C switch is OFF.

- INSPECT THE IDLE CONTACT CIRCUIT IN THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Circuit Test - IDL-E2 Section:

HINT: If the results of the above test indicate a malfunction, confirm that the throttle linkage is allowing the throttle to close.
