Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION:
- INSPECT RESISTANCE OF VOLUME AIR FLOW (VAF) METER.
- Disconnect the VAF meter connector.



- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.




- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the VAF meter.
- Reconnect the VAF meter connector.

OFF-VEHICLE INSPECTION
- INSPECT VAF METER.



- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals VS and E2 by moving the measuring plate.

Resistance (VS - E2)
At fully closed 200 - 600 Ohms
At fully open 20 - 1,200 Ohms

HINT: Resistance will change in a wave pattern as the measuring plate slowly opens.

- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the VAF meter.
