Injection Inspection
INJECTION VOLUME INSPECTIONCAUTION: Keep injectors clean of sparks during the test.
1. INSPECT INJECTOR INJECTION.
- Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets, and disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the fuel filter outlet.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the fuel filter outlet with 2 gaskets and union bolts. (SST 09268-41045 and 90405-09015)
Torque: 29 Nm (22 ft.lb)
- Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the pressure regulator on the delivery pipe.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the delivery pipe with 4 gaskets and the 2 union bolts.
Torque:
- 12 mm head: 12 Nm (9 ft.lb)
- 17 mm head: 29 Nm (22 ft.lb)
- Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
- Using a jumper wire (or SST 09843-18020), connect terminals +B and FP of the DLCI.
- Reconnect the negative (-) terminal cable to battery.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.
- Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder. (SST 09842-30060)
- Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
Volume: 95 - 120 cm3 (5.8 - 7.3 cu in) per 15 seconds
Difference between each injector: 5 cm3 (0.3 cu.in) or less
- If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
2. INSPECT LEAKAGE.
- In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector. (SST 09842-30060)
Fuel leakage: One drop or less per minute.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Remove the SST (unions and hoses).
- Reinstall the fuel inlet hose to the fuel filter outlet with 2 new gaskets and the union bolt.
Torque: 29 Nm (22 ft.lb)
