Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection
ELECTRICAL INSPECTION:1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.
- Refer to Throttle Body service procedures.
- Throttle Body
2. DISCONNECT COLD START INJECTOR CONNECTOR.
3. INSPECT COLD START INJECTOR RESISTANCE.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance: 2 - 4 0hms
- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the cold start injector.
4. RECONNECT COLD START INJECTOR CONNECTOR.
5. RE-INSTALL THROTTLE BODY.
INJECTION INSPECTION:
1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY AND COLD START INJECTOR.
- Refer to Service and Repair procedures.
- Service and Repair
2. INSPECT INJECTION PATTERN.
CAUTION: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.
- Install 2 unions (SST 09268-41045 and 09268-41080) to the injector and delivery pipe with 4 gaskets and the union bolts.
- Connect hose (SST 09268-41045) to the unions.
- Connect wire (SST 09842-30050) to the injector.
- Put a container under the injector.
- Using a jumper wire (or SST 09843-18020), connect terminals +B and FP of the DLC1.
- Reconnect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
NOTICE: DO NOT start the engine.
- Connect the tester probes of the SST (wire) to the battery, and check that the fuel spray is as shown. (SST 09842-30050)
HINT: Fuel should spray from 2 nozzles in the injector tip. Each fuel spray should form a cone shape.
NOTICE: Perform this check within the shortest possible time.
3. INSPECT FOR LEAKAGE.
- In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check fuel leakage from the injector.
Fuel drop: One drop or less per minute.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Remove the SST hoses, unions and wire.
