Removal





EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch Is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

1. Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from battery
2. Remove air cleaner Cap



(a) Disconnect the following connector, cord, cables and hoses:
(1) Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector
(2) California only: High-tension cord from air cleaner hose
(3) Accelerator cable from clamp
(4) Cruise control actuator cable from clamps
(5) California only: Air hose for idle-up from air cleaner hose
(b) Disconnect the 4 clamps, and disconnect the air cleaner cap from the air cleaner case.
(c) Loosen the hose clamp, and disconnect the air cleaner hose from the throttle body.
(d) Remove the air cleaner cap and air cleaner hose assembly.
3. Disconnect control cables from throttle body



Disconnect the following cables:
(1) Accelerator cable
(2) A/T throttle control cable
4. Disconnect throttle body From intake manifold



(a) Disconnect the following hoses:
(1) Vacuum hose (from upper port of TVV for EVAP) from port "P" of throttle body
(2) Vacuum hose (from port "Q" of EGR vacuum modulator) from port "E" of throttle body
(3) Vacuum hose (from port "R" of EGR vacuum modulator) from port "R" of throttle body
(4) PCV hose (from cylinder head) from throttle body



(b) Type A: Remove the 4 bolts.
(c) Type B: Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
(d) Disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold.
(e) Remove the gasket.

5. Remove EGR Gas Temperature Sensor
(a) Disconnect the sensor connector from the bracket on the No.1 intake manifold stay, and disconnect the sensor connector from the wiring connector.
(b) Remove the sensor.
