Inspection Procedure

WIRING DIAGRAM





PROCEDURE
1. Check voltage between terminal FC of engine control module (ECM) connector and body ground.
- Turn up the floor mat on the passenger side.
- Turn ignition switch ON.



- Measure voltage between terminal FC of engine control module connector and body ground.
OK Voltage: 9 - 14 volts
^ If OK Check and replace engine control module.
^ If not OK proceed to step 2.

2. Check for ECM power source circuit.
^ If OK proceed to step 3.
^ If not OK repair as necessary.

3. Check circuit opening relay.
- Remove circuit opening relay.



- Check continuity between terminals of circuit opening relay shown.
Terminals 1 and 2 - Open
Terminals 2 and 4 - Continuity
Terminals 3 and 5 - Continuity
- Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 3 and 5.
- Check continuity between terminals 1 and 2.
Terminals 1 and 2 - Continuity
- Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 2 and 4.
- Check continuity between terminals 1 and 2.
Terminals 1 and 2 - Continuity
^ If OK proceed to step 4.
^ If not OK replace circuit opening relay.

4. Check for open in harness and connector between main relay and circuit opening relay, circuit opening relay and engine control module.
^ If OK proceed to step 5.
^ If not OK Repair or replace harness or connector.

5. Check fuel pump.
Testing and Inspection
^ If OK check for open in harness and connector between circuit opening relay and fuel pump, fuel pump and body ground.
^ If not OK replace fuel pump.
