PURPOSE
The camshaft position sensor, located in the distributor, produces the G signal. The crankshaft position sensor, also located in the distributor though separate, works in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor to produce output pulses to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM uses these signals to determine engine speed and relative top dead center for each cylinder.
