Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL



1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE(-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT.
3. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR.
- Disconnect the ECT Sensor connector.



- Using a deep socket wrench. remove the ECT Sensor and gasket.


INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL A NEW GASKET TO THE ECT SENSOR.
2. USING A DEEP SOCKET, INSTALL THE ECT SENSOR.

Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft.lb)

3. CONNECT THE ECT SENSOR CONNECTOR.
4. REFILL ENGINE WITH COOLANT.
5. RECONNECT NEGATIVE(-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
