DTC P0402 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE USING OBDII SCAN TOOL





1. Check resistance of Exhaust Gas Recirculation Gas Temperature Sensor.
- If OK proceed to step 2.
- If not OK replace Exhaust Gas Recirculation Gas Temperature Sensor.
2. Check for short in harness and connector between Exhaust Gas Recirculation Gas Temperature Sensor and Engine Control Module.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Check the Vacuum Switching Valve for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
- If OK check Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.
- If not OK proceed to step 4.
4. Check operation of the Vacuum Switching Valve for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
- If OK proceed to step 5.
- If not OK replace Vacuum Switching Valve for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
5. Check for open in harness and connector between Junction Box No. 2 and Engine Control Module.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
