Clearing Trouble Codes






Except Code 41
1. Turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect battery ground cable or ECU-B fuse for 10 seconds or more.
2. When connecting battery after cancelling malfunction code, ensure ignition switch in Lock position. If battery cable is connected with ignition switch in On or ACC position, diagnosis system may malfunction.
3. The lower the temperature, the longer the battery ground cable must be left off.
Code 41
This code clearing method may be used for all codes.
1. Connect suitable service wire between check connector terminals Tc and AB of the DLC (Data Link Connector).
2. Turn ignition switch to ACC or On, then wait about 6 seconds.
3. Starting with Tc terminal, apply body ground alternately to terminal Tc and AB twice, each in cycles of .5-1.5 seconds.
4. When alternating between body ground to terminals Tc and AB release one from body ground while applying it to the other terminal. The time interval in between must be within .5-1.5 seconds or code 41 will not be cleared.
5. After several seconds, when the airbag warning light starts to blink in a 64 msec. cycle, cancellation is completed.

HINT: This method clears not only code 41, but also other malfunction codes all at once. Except when instructed by the troubleshooting procedure, use this method only when repair procedure is completed. Flow of Diagnosis
