Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

Wire Holder:

1. Using a screwdriver, lift up lock claw and disconnect holder from distributor cap.

Ignition Cord Removal And Installation:

2. Disconnect high tension cord at grommet.

CAUTION: Pulling on or bending cords may damage conductor inside. Do not wipe any oil from grommet after high tension cord is disconnected.


INSTALLATION:

NOTE: Use step #5 for installation of center cord on the distributor side.

Ignition Cord Removal And Installation:

1. Insert grommet portion into terminal hole of distributor cap or ignition coil.

Holder Installation:

2. Align spline of distributor or ignition coil, with spline of holder. Slide the holder into position.

Installing Spark Plug Wires In Distributor:

3. Ensure holder is correctly installed to grommet and distributor cap.

Verify Lock Claw Engagement:

4. Ensure lock claw is engaged on holder by lightly pulling the holder.

5. For installation of the center cord on the distributor side insert grommet and holder together.
