Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor:

PURPOSE
The MAP Sensor is an engine vacuum sensor that provides input to the ECU so fuel can be injected according to engine load, rpm, acceleration and deceleration. The MAP Sensor also provides some air/fuel mixture compensation for altitude.

LOCATION
Located in the right rear of the engine compartment.

OPERATION
he ECU provides reference voltage to the MAP through terminal VCC, ground through terminal E2 and input to the ECU through terminal PIM.
