Center Airbag Sensor

Fig. 66 Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Replacement. MR2:

1. Disable airbag system, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Remove shift lever knob and shift hole cover, Fig. 66.
3. Remove instrument cluster center finish panel.
4. Remove ash tray assembly.
5. Remove radio attaching screws, then pull rearward.
6. Disconnect radio electrical connectors and antenna lead, then remove.
7. Remove heater control attaching screws, then pull rearward, disconnect electrical connectors, then remove.
8. Disconnect sensor electrical connector.
9. Remove sensor attaching screws, then remove.
10. Reverse to install. Torque sensor attaching Torx screws to 9 ft. lbs. Ensure electrical connector is connected only when sensor has been installed and tightened to specifications.
