To prevent false "check engine light " (diagnostic code 71) indication, the ECU programming has been changed.


DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE:

When check engine light (diagnostic code 71) condition is encountered, first verify the EGR system is operating correctly by following check procedures outlined in the 1991 Tercel Repair Manual No. RM195U under the following sections:

1. Emission Control System (EC10-14)

2. EFI System (F170-73)

If no problems are found with the EGR system, replace the ECU.
