Shift and Select Lever Assembly

Components:

DISASSEMBLY OF SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT




1. REMOVE CONTROL SHIFT LEVER, DUST BOOT AND CONTROL SHAFT COVER
a. Remove the lever lock pin and nut.
b. Remove the control shift lever.
c. Remove the dust boot.
d. Remove the control shaft cover.




2. REMOVE REVERSE RESTRICT P/N HOLDER AND NO.2 SHIFT INNER LEVER
a. Remove the E-ring.




b. Remove the reverse restrict pin holder, spring and No.2 shift inner lever.




3. REMOVE SHIFT FORK LOCK PLATE, NO.1 SHIFT INNER LEVER AND SHIFT INTERLOCK PLATE
a. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the slotted spring pin.




b. Remove the shift fork lock plate, No.1 shift inner lever, spring and shift interlock plate.




4. REMOVE E-RING FROM SELECT LEVER SHAFT




5. IF NECESSARY, REPLACE CONTROL SHAFT COVER OIL SEAL
a. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.




b. Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the cover surface.
SST 09608-20012 (09608-00080, 09608-03020)
c. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.

ASSEMBLY OF SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT




1. APPLY MP GREASE TO PARTS, AS SHOWN




2. INSTALL E-RING TO SELECT LEVER SHAFT




3. INSTALL SHIFT INTERLOCK PLATE, NO.1 SHIFT INNER LEVER AND SHIFT FORK LOCK PLATE
a. Install the shift interlock plate and spring.




b. Install the No.1 shift inner lever with the shift fork lock plate.

HINT: One of the spline teeth of the shaft and select lever shaft has been eliminated. Therefore, be certain to correctly align this portion to the matching portions on the parts during assembly.




c. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive in the slotted spring pin.




4. INSTALL NO.2 SHIFT INNER LEVER AND REVERSE RESTRICT P/N HOLDER
a. Install the No.2 shift inner lever, spring and reverse restrict pin holder.




b. Install the E-ring.




5. INSTALL CONTROL SHAFT COVER, DUST BOOT AND CONTROL SHIFT LEVER
a. Install the control shaft cover and dust boot

HINT: Make sure to install the boot in correct direction. Position the air bleed of the boot downward.




b. Install the control shift lever and insert the lever lock pin to the lever
c. Install the washer and lock nut
