Fuel Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove the rear luggage compartment trim and uncover the Circuit Opening Relay and plug.
2. Using a voltmeter, check for 9.8 - 12.0 volts at terminal Fp during engine cranking and running.

3. Unplug the Circuit Opening Relay and remove it for further testing.
4. Using an Ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals STA and E1.

5. Check that there is continuity between terminals B and Fc. Check that there is NO continuity between terminals B and Fp.
6. If readings are not as specified, replace the Circuit Opening Relay.
7. Apply battery current across terminals STA and E1.
8. Using an Ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between terminals B and Fp.

Checking Circuit Opening Relay Operation:





9. Apply battery current across terminals B and Fc.
10. Using a voltmeter, check for 12 volts between terminals Fp and Fc.
11. If a problem is found, replace the Circuit Opening Relay.
12. Reinstall the Circuit Opening Relay in the luggage compartment.
