Removal

REMOVAL OF TRANSAXLE
1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE AIR FLOW METER AND AIR CLEANER



3. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR AND NEUTRAL START SWITCH CONNECTOR




4. DISCONNECT GROUND STRAP




5. DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE FROM THROTTLE LINKAGE AND BRACKET




6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR
7. DISCONNECT SPEEDOMETER CABLE




8. DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLE
a. Remove the clip.
b. Remove the retainer.
c. Disconnect the control cable.




9. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSES
10. REMOVE STARTER MOTOR SET BOLTS




11. REMOVE THE TWO TRANSMISSION HOUSING SET BOLTS




12. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNT INSULATOR BRACKET SET BOLT
13. RAISE VEHICLE AND DRAIN TRANSAXLE -
14. REMOVE LH FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL




15. DISCONNECT BOTH DRIVE SHAFTS
Loosen the six nuts while depressing the brake pedal.




16. REMOVE SUSPENSION LOWER CROSSMEMBER




17. REMOVE CENTER DRIVE SHAFT
a. Using pliers, remove the snap ring.
b. Remove the bolt on the bearing bracket.
c. Pull out the center drive shaft.




18. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING CENTER MEMBER
a. Disconnect the control cable clamp.
b. Remove the ten bolts and engine mounting center member.

19. REMOVE STABILIZER BAR




20. REMOVE LEFT STEERING KNUCKLE FROM LOWER ARM
a. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the lower arm.
b. Pull the steering knuckle toward the outside and remove the drive shaft.




21. REMOVE ENGINE REAR END PLATE




22. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER MOUNTING BOLTS
a. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.
b. Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench, remove the six bolts.




23. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING BOLTS
a. Hold the engine and transaxle with two jacks, or a chain block and jack.
b. Remove the two engine rear mounting bolts.




24. REMOVE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
a. Lower the rear end of the transaxle, remove the three transaxle housing mounting bolts.
b. Remove the transaxle from the engine.




25. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER FROM TRANSAXLE
