TITLE IMS SCHEMATIC DRAWINGS
The enclosed drawings are schematic representations of the Toyota
intrusion monitoring system (IMS) as it is installed in the
various 1988 Toyota vehicles. The following 1988 vehicles are
referenced by the drawings:
Camry Sedan and Wagon MR2 (supercharged) Celica
The following 1988 Toyota vehicles also accept the IMS as an option but drawings for them are not enclosed. The schematic representations for these vehicles are the same as the representation for the corresponding 1987 vehicle:
Van Truck/4-Runner FX16 MR2 (non-supercharged)
The components in the enclosed drawings are shown in their approximate relative positions and are identified by component name and location in the vehicle. The drawings are not to scale. Where wire connections exist between the IMS System and the vehicle wiring, wire colors on both sides of the kit Scotchlock connections are indicated. The functions of the various IMS system wires are described completely and in detail in Toyota service Bulletin, Volume VIII, Number 008, issued December 2, 1985. Please refer to this Bulletin for further details. Briefly, the functions are as follows:
IMS WIRE COLOR FUNCTION
Red Battery Power
Orange Accessory Power
Yellow Parking Lights
Gray Door Open Sensor
Black Hood and Trunk Open Sensor
Green Ground
The attached drawings are not installation instructions and are not intended to replace installation instructions. They are intended to assist in troubleshooting and repair of the system and components. They attempt to clarify installed IMS Systems for persons other than the original installers. These persons are often unfamiliar with location of components and the layout of the various systems. Additional information can be found in the Toyota Service Bulletins.
