Ignition Timing: Adjustments
1. Connect timing light to engine.2. Short terminals T and E1 of the service connector, which is located next to the resonator, as shown.
3. Ignition timing should be 10° BTDC, at idle with the transmission in "N".
4. If necessary, loosen the distributor bolt and turn the distributor to align the marks. Recheck timing after tightening down the distributor hold down bolt to 20Nm (14 ft.lbs).
5. Remove the jumper wire from the check connector.
6. Timing should now be 16° BTDC at idle for the manual transmission and 12° BTDC at idle for the automatic transmission.
7. Remove timing light.
