C52/4A-GE Engine

1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE CABLE FROM BATTERY
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER
a. Loosen the air hose clamp.
b. Remove the three bolts from the air cleaner case.
c. Remove the air cleaner case with the air hose and vacuum hose.




3. REMOVE COOLING FAN
a. Disconnect the cooling fan connector.
b. Remove the three bolts and cooling fan.




4. DISCONNECT 02 SENSOR CONNECTOR AND BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR




5. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER
Remove the two bolts and release cylinder.

NOTE: Do not disconnect the tube.




6. DISCONNECT WATER INLET FROM TRANSAXLE
Remove the bolt, nut and water inlet.




7. DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLE
a. Remove the two clips and washers.
b. Remove the two retainers and control cables.




8. DISCONNECT SPEEDOMETER CABLE




9. DISCONNECT BOND CABLE FROM BODY




10. REMOVE STARTER
a. Remove the two bolts.
b. Disconnect the connector.
c. Remove the nut and disconnect the cable.
d. Remove the starter.
11. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH AND RH




12. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE
a. Remove the three nuts.
b. Remove the two bolts.




c. Loosen the exhaust pipe clamp and remove the exhaust pipe.




13. DISCONNECT FRONT AND REAR MOUNTING
a. Remove the front and rear hole cover.
b. Remove the four mounting bolts.




14. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING CENTER MEMBER
Remove the four bolts, center member and insulator.




15. DISCONNECT DRIVE SHAFT
a. Remove the front wheel LH.
b. Remove the two bolts and transmission protector.




c. Loosen the six nuts while depressing the brake pedal.
d. Disconnect the drive shaft from the side gear shaft.




e. Disconnect the lower ball joint from the lower arm.
f. Pull the shock absorber outward, and remove the drive shaft.

NOTE: Suspend the drive shaft.




16. REMOVE ENGINE REAR END PLATE NO.2




17. DISCONNECT ENGINE MOUNTING LH
a. Raise the transaxle and engine slightly with the two jacks.

CAUTION: Put in a wooden block between the oil pan and jack.




b. Remove the two mounting bolts.




18. REMOVE TRANSAXLE
a. Remove the four transaxle mounting bolts.
b. Remove the two rear end plate bolts.




c. Lower the engine left side and remove the transaxle from the engine.
