System Specifications

Engine Torque Specifications:

1- 14mm bolt head, 65 ft.lbs.;12mm bolt head, 14 ft.lbs.
2- Rocker arm shaft bracket retained by cylinder head bolts.
3- Engines w/automatic transmission, 54 ft.lbs.;engines w/manual transmission, 61 ft.lbs.
4- Camshaft housing to cylinder head, 15-17 ft.lbs.
5- Glow plug. Torque to 9 ft.lbs.
6- Engines w/automatic transmission, 47 ft.lbs; engines w/manual transmission, 58 ft.lbs.
7- Torque bolts in sequence to 22 ft.lbs., then repeat, tightening to 36 ft.lbs. Tighten all bolts in sequence an additional 90 degrees.
8- 1988 models
9- Spark plug tube.
10- 3S-FE, 47 ft.lbs. ;3S-GE, 40 ft.lbs.
11- 3S-FE, 36 ft.lbs. ;3S-GE, 49 ft.lbs.
12- 3S-FE, 72 ft.lbs. ;3S-GE, 65 ft.lbs.
13- Except MR2 models.
14- MR2 models.
15- Torque bolts in three steps, first to 22 ft.lbs., then an additional 90 degrees and finally an additional 90 degrees.
16- Supercharger to intake manifold, 25 ft.lbs.
17- Hexagon type nut, 36 ft.lbs. ; 12 sided nut torque first to 29 ft. lbs., then an additional 90 degrees.
18- Flywheel bolts, 54 ft.lbs.; drive plate bolts, 61 ft.lbs.
19- Torque 12 sided bolts in three steps, first to 25 ft.lbs., then turn bolts an additional 90 degrees and finally turn bolts an additional 90 degrees. Torque recessed type bolts to 13 ft.lbs.
20- Torque bolts an additional 90 degrees.
21- Torque bolts in tree steps, first to 33 ft.lbs., then torque bolts an additional 90 degrees and finally torque bolts an additional 90 degrees.
22- Flywheel bolts, 65 ft.lbs.; drive plate bolts, 61 ft.lbs.
23- New bolts, 65 ft.lbs.; used bolts, 69 ft.lbs.
