A/C - Warning Light Flashes And Clutch Not Engaging

CONDITION: The A/C light flashes and the magnetic clutch on the A/C compressor will not engage.

PROBABLE CAUSE: The following may cause the above condition to occur.

1. Loose belt tension
2. Belt slippage caused by water splashed on belt
3. Broken lead wires to RPM sensor caused by engine and road vibration

(Note: For problems 1 and 2, please refer to TSB-013, volume VIII)

RPM SENSOR:

CORRECTION: The method used to attach the lead wire to the RPM sensor has been changed from soldering to soldering plus crimping.
