Igniter Test

1. Turn ignition switch on.

Ignition Coil Power Test:

2. Using a voltmeter, ensure near battery voltage at ignition coil positive terminal.

3. If near battery voltage was not present in step #2, inspect ignition switch, wiring and connections between ignition switch and ignition coil positive terminal.

Ignition Coil Winding Test:

4. Using a voltmeter, ensure near battery voltage at ignition coil negative terminal.

Igniter Test Circuit Connections:

5. Using a 1.5 volt dry cell battery, connect the positive pole to the pink wire terminal. Connect the negative pole to the white wire terminal.

CAUTION: Do not apply voltage for more than 5 seconds to avoid destroying the power transistor in the igniter.

6. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive lead to ignition coil negative terminal. Connect the negative lead to body ground.

7. If voltage was not 0 - 3 volts, replace igniter.

8. Turn ignition switch off.
