Convertible - Headliner Replacement

"E" STYLE HEADLINER:

The Toyota Convertible has been equipped with two styles of Headliners. The difference being the attachments of the Headliner to the No. 2 and No. 3 bows.

To identify which style Headliner is being removed, first locate the top stack identification number on the top surface of the right hand center side rail. Top stacks identified with No. 4398 or greater will have the "E" style Headliner installed by the factory. Next check the Headliner attachments to the No. 2 and No. 3 bows. If the Headliner is attached to the bows by a plastic retainer which is sewn to the Headliner this would be an "E" style Headliner (see illustration).

LISTING WIRE STYLE HEADLINER:

If the Headliner is attached to the bows by a listing wire and clips, this would be a listing wire style Headliner (see illustration).
For service replacement, the only available Headliner will be the listing wire style Headliner. To service the "E" style Headliner for replacement, it will be necessary to order the Headliner Assembly - Folding Top Kit (Part Number 02125-86102) which will include the following parts:

To service existing Listing Wire Style Headliners for replacement, only the Headliner Assembly - Folding Top (Part Number 02125-86101) is necessary and step 1 of the following instructions may be omitted.

INSTALL ROOF BOW HEADLINER LISTING WIRE CLIPS.:

INSTALLATION OF LISTING WIRE STYLE HEADLINER ASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL ROOF BOW HEADLINER LISTING WIRE CLIPS.

(a) Remove all existing headliner hardware and attaching screws.

(b) Unlatch the top and lower it halfway.

(c) Align the No. 2 and No. 3 bow top cover retainers to each bow.

INSTALL HEADLINER SCREWS:

(d) Using the existing attaching holes in the bows, install the six (6) roof bow headliner listing wire clips to the No. 2 and No. 3 bows with the twelve
(12) screws.

INSTALL ROOF BOW HEADLINER LISTING WIRE TO HEADLINER.:

2. INSTALL ROOF BOW HEADLINER LISTING WIRE TO HEADLINER.

(a) Insert each roof bow headliner listing wire into each headliner listing pocket.

INSTALL THE HEADLINER TO NO. 2 AND NO. 3 BOWS.:

3. INSTALL THE HEADLINER TO NO. 2 AND NO.. 3 BOWS.

(a) Insert each end of the listing wire into the listing wire retaining hole in the No. 3 bow bracket.

(b) Attach the headliner listing wire to the clips on the No. 3 bow.

(c) Insert each end of the listing wire into the listing wire retaining hole in the No. 2 bow bracket.

(d) Attach the headliner listing wire to clips on the No. 2 bow.
