Ignition Timing: Adjustments






1. Disconnect and plug the vacuum hoses to the distributor.
2. Connect a timing light to the engine.
3. Start the engine and let it idle. Idle should be no more than 950 rpm, adjust as necessary.






4. Loosen the set bolt and slowly turn the distributor until the timing mark, when illuminated by the timing light, indicates 5° BTDC.
5. Tighten down the lock bolt and ensure the timing is still at spec. Torque bolt to 15 - 21 Nm (11 - 15 ft.lbs).
6. Reconnect vacuum lines to the distributor.
