4K-E Exc. Lean Burn & 3Y-EC Engines

On these models, the igniter assembly and the ignition coil on all except 4K-C engines has been combined into the distributor to form an integral assembly. The fully integrated assembly, which mounts an open type ignition coil in the distributor cap, is referred to as 11A ignition. Both the 11A ignition and the system used on 4K-E engines without Electronic Lean Burn operate in a manner similar to the system used on 1982 models.
