Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection


Resistance values for cold start injectors are 2-4 ohms for 2S-E engines and 3-5 ohms for all other engines. If a spray pattern and leak test need to be done, proceed as follows:

1. Remove cold start injector from the engine and connect to Special Service Tool (SST) 09268-41045 hose. Fig. 30
2. Connect SST (09842-30050 wiring) to the cold start injector.

NOTE: Position the injector as far away from the power source as possible.
3. Place a suitable container under the injector.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
5. Short the terminals of the fuel pump check connectorFig. 33
6. Perform this test as quickly as possible. Check for a good spray pattern.
7. Remove the test connections from the battery and check that fuel does not leak from the injector. Maximum leakage is less than one drop per minute.
