Ignition Timing: Adjustments
1. Connect timing light to engine.2. Disconnect and plug the hose from the vacuum advancer sub-diaphragm as shown.
3. Timing should be 5° BTDC at 950 rpm. Adjust as necessary.
4. To adjust, loosen the IIA hold down bolt and slowly turn the IIA until the timing mark indicates 5° BTDC.
5. When done, torque the IIA hold down bolt to 13 Nm (9 ft.lbs). Recheck timing and verify it is still at spec.
6. Reconnect the hose to the vacuum advancer sub-diaphragm as shown and make sure the timing advances.
7. Disconnect and remove the timing light.
