When diagnosing the EFI system on a vehicle prior to the production modification, remove the 7.5 A CHG fuse in the fuse box of the engine compartment to operate the "CHECK ENGINE" warning light for diagnostic codes.

Note: In the event that there is abnormality in the EFI system, the "CHECK ENGINE" warning light will go on to alert the driver, regardless of this production modification.
Output of Diagnostic Codes

To obtain the output of diagnostic codes prior to the production modifications, proceed as follows:

1. Precheck

(a) Battery voltage above 11 volts
(b) Throttle valve fully closed (throttle position sensor IDL points closed)
(c) Transmission in neutral position
(d) Accessory switches OFF
(e) Engine at normal operating temperature

2. Remove the 7.5 A fuse for CHG
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Do not start the engine.
4. Using a service wire, short terminals T-E1 of the check engine connector as illustrated in the repair manual.
5. Read the diagnostic code as indicated by the number of flashes of the "CHECK ENGINE" warning light. Please refer to the CAMRY repair manual (Pub. No. 36210A) for diagnostic code.

The procedure for obtaining diagnostic codes after production modification is the same as above except the 7.5 A charge fuse is not removed.
