Installation

Installing Oil Pump Pulley:





1. Using SST 09616-30011 or equivalent, hold the pulley, then torque the nut to 26 Nm (20 ft lb).

Installing Crankshaft Timing Pulley:





2. Install crankshaft timing pulley over crankshaft key.

Installing No. 2 Idler Pulley:





3. Install No. 2 idler pulley. Torque idler pulley retaining bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft lb).

Installing No. 1 Idler Pulley And Tension Spring:





4. Temporarily install No. 1 idler pulley and tension spring.

Temporary Installation Of Timing Belt:





5. Temporarily install the timing belt on the crankshaft, oil pump, No. 2 idler, and water pump pulleys.
NOTE: The engine should be cold.

Installing Timing Belt Guide:





6. Install timing belt guide with the cup side facing outward.

Installing No. 1 Timing Belt Cover:





7. Install No. 1 timing belt cover and gasket assembly.

Installing Crankshaft Pulley:





8. Align the crankshaft pulley set key with the groove of the pulley and install the pulley. Torque crankshaft pulley retaining bolt to 108 Nm (80 ft lb).

Checking No. 1 Cylinder To TDC/Compression Of Crankshaft:






9. Check that No. 1 cylinder to TDC/Compression of crankshaft. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with the "0" mark on the No. 1 timing belt cover.

Installing Camshaft Timing Pulley:





10. Align the camshaft knock pin with the matchmark on the camshaft oil retainer.

Aligning Knock Pin (Canada):





11. Align the knock pin with the pin hole on the timing pulley as shown. Check that the matchmark on the oil seal retainer and center of the small hole on the camshaft timing pulley align.

Installing Pulley Set Bolt:





12. Using SST 09278-54012 or equivalent to hold the camshaft timing pulley, install the pulley set bolt and torque to 54 Nm (40 ft lb).

Installing Timing Belt:





13. Install the timing belt, insuring tension between the crankshaft timing pulley, water pump pulley, and camshaft timing pulley.
NOTE: If reusing the timing belt, first align the belt and pulley matchmarks.


Loosening No. 1 Idler Pulley:





14. Loosen the No. 1 idler pulley set bolt 1/2 turn.

Turning Crankshaft Pulley:





15. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise two revolutions TDC to TDC.

Tightening No. 1 Idler Pulley Bolt:





16. Tighten the No. 1 idler pulley set bolt to 42 Nm (31 ft lb).

Checking Belt Tension:





17. Make sure that there is tension at the positions indicated in the figure.

Installing No. 2 Timing Belt Cover With Gasket:





18. Install the No. 2 timing belt cover and gaskets with the four bolts.

Engine Mounting Bracket:





19. Install the right hand engine mounting insulator with bracket, and torque the bracket bolts to 52 Nm (32 ft lb).
20. Lower engine, then install power steering tank and drive belt.
21. Install cruise control actuator and bracket.
22. Install fender apron seal and front wheel.
