With A340E & A340H Automatic Transmissions

W/A340E

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Disconnect upper radiator hose.
4. Disconnect air intake electrical connector.
5. Disconnect transmission throttle cable.
6. Raise and support vehicle, then drain fluid from transmission.
7. Label, then disconnect all electrical connector and vacuum lines from transmission assembly.
8. Remove drive shaft and center bearing from transmission.
9. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
10. Disconnect transmission cooler lines.
11. Remove oil filler tube.
12. Disconnect manual shift linkage.
13. Disconnect speedometer cable.
14. Remove both stiffener plates and converter cover from transmission housing and cylinder block.
15. Raise transmission slightly.
16. Remove rear support member.
17. Remove torque converter mounting bolts.
18. Remove transmission housing mounting bolts and nuts, then the transmission assembly from vehicle.
19. Reverse procedure to install.
