Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Connect a timing light to the engine. Disconnect the vacuum line to the distributor.
2. Start the engine and run it at idle, idle should be no more than 950 rpm. Adjust idle as necessary.
3. Slowly turn the distributor until the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley, when illuminated by the timing light, indicates 8° BTDC.
4. Tighten the distributor lockdown bolt. Torque to 1.6 - 2.2 kgm (12 - 15 ft.lbs).
5. Reconnect vacuum line to the distributor.
