Radiator: Service and Repair
Radiator Removal and InstallationWARNING:
^ Check to make sure that engine coolant temperature is cold before removing any part of cooling system.
^ Also be sure to disconnect negative cord from battery terminal before removing any part.
Removal
1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Drain cooling system by loosening drain plug (1) of radiator (2).
3. Disconnect coupler (3) of cooling fan motor.
4. Disconnect radiator inlet (3) and outlet hoses and reservoir tank hose (2) from radiator (1).
5. Remove radiator and cooling fan motor.
Installation
Reference: "Radiator Inspection and Cleaning" Reverse removal procedures.
NOTE:
^ Refill cooling system with proper coolant.
^ After installation, check each joint for leakage.
Radiator Inspection and Cleaning
Inspection
Check radiator for leakage or damage. Straighten bent fins, if any.
Cleaning
Clean frontal area of radiator cores.
