Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2. Remove center console.
3. Shift selector lever to "N" position.
4. Detach illumination lamp socket from select indicator.
5. Detach select indicator from selector housing and move it toward upside.
6. Disconnect connector for illumination lamp and shift lock solenoid.
7. Disconnect interlock cable end from key interlock cam of selector.
8. Remove shift lock solenoid assembly from housing.
INSTALLATION
1. Loosen location spring screw.
2. With selector lever shifted to "N" position, install solenoid assembly to housing.
NOTE: New shift lock solenoid assembly is supplied with held key release cam at key interlock cable connecting position with lock pin. Do not remove lock pin in this step.
3. Align location spring end with guide groove and tighten spring screw securely.
4. Apply grease to guide grooves and detent pin.
5. Fix key release cam inserting special tool into holes on cam and solenoid bracket if cam is not fixed. Refer to step 4 of "Interlock Cable Installation".
6. Connect interlock cable end to cam.
7. Remove special tool or lock pin from key release cam.
8. Check to confirm that key release cam and interlock cable operate properly.
9. Connect connector of shift solenoid and illumination lamp.
10. Install select indicator and center console.
11. Connect negative cable to battery.
12. Check to confirm that brake (key) interlock system operates properly.
