Dust Behind Multi Function Display (MFD) Panel

INTRODUCTION

There is the possibility that dust could accumulate on the inside of the Multi Function Display (MFD) panel. The dust could look like spider webs. The information contained in this bulletin provides the procedure for removing the dust and preventing it from coming back.

REPAIR PROCEDURES/INFORMATION

Caution:
^ Be extremely careful not to scratch or damage the MFD panel, screen and/or instrument panel.

^ Be extremely careful not to get any grease or dirt on the MFD panel or screen.

^ When cleaning the MFD panel and screen use a clean soft cloth dampened with warm water.

Note:
Do not use a dry cloth as it will cause scratches.

^ Do not use any detergent it may cause discoloring, cracking or other problems.

^ Repair work should be performed in a clean dust free area.

Repair Procedure





1) Remove the center vent grill using a "white stick" by inserting it under the trim, gently pry up along the left and right edges, working your way towards the instrument panel (see Figure 1).

2) Disconnect the connector from the hazard switch.





3) Remove MFD panel by releasing the hooks at the 4 locations. Start out on the bottom first, then the sides and then the top (see Figure 2).





4) Use a clean soft cloth dampened with warm water, gently wipe off any dust on the back side of the MFD panel (see Figure 3). Note: Make sure there are no water spots.





5) Use a clean soft cloth dampened with warm water, gently wipe off any dust on the MFD screen (see Figure 4). Note: Make sure there are no water spots.

6) Wait until MFD panel and screen are dried completely.





7) Install cushion A and B as described (see Figure 5).





Installed cushions (see Figure 6).

8) Reinstall MFD panel. Confirm that the cushions are not visible.
