Difference in height between the left hand A-pillar panel and the instrument panel
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this bulletin is to address a difference in the height between the left hand (driver's side) A-pillar panel and the instrument panel. Two foam pads will need to be installed to correct the height difference. The procedure can also be used on the right side if necessary. Following this procedure will eliminate the need for replacing the instrument panel.
PRODUCTION LINE CHANGE
The foam pads have been used in production starting with VIN # 64404957.
PART NUMBER INFORMATION
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Remove the left side cover from the instrument panel (see Figure 1).
Remove the left side vent assembly from the instrument panel using a resin stick. To prevent damage to the vent assembly, do not pry from the sides (see Figure 2).
Remove the adhesive protector and install the blue foam pad (part # 66124XA02A), sticky side down between the side duct and the A-pillar duct. Make sure the foam pad is past the edge of the duct (see Figure 3).
Remove the adhesive protector and install the black foam pad (part # 66124XA03A), sticky side up between the side duct and the steering beam. Make sure the foam pad is past the edge of the duct (see Figure 4).
Reinstall the left side vent assembly (see Figure 5).
Check the vent assembly for proper operation, up, down and sideway position (see figure 6). Check the vent assembly for proper operation of open and closed position (see figure 7).
Reinstall side cover (see figure 8).

For vehicles within the Basic New Car Limited Warranty period, this repair can be claimed using the table shown.
