SUBJECT: MUDFLAP INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

This Bulletin Should be Used to Update the Installation Instructions of the Current Inventory of Mudflaps Listed Below:

The 1989 Model Year 4 Dr. Sedan, 3 Dr. Coupe, Station Wagon and XT vehicles have black chip protectors on the wheel opening fender flange areas. The chip protectors cover the mudflap mounting area and holes.

To install the mudflaps use the following procedure:

^ Align the mudflap on the fender
^ Mark the top of the mudflap on the chip protector
^ Pry-off the button located at the bottom of the chip protector
^ Using a pair of diagonal cutters cut-off the marked section of the chip protector where the mudflap mounts to the fender by cutting between the metal retaining teeth. See Figure 1.

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHIP THE PAINT ON THE FENDER FLANGE WHILE CUTTING THE SECTION OF CHIP PROTECTOR.

^ Make sure the remaining section of the chip protector on the fender is securely in place.

^ Install the mudflaps according to the instructions found in the mudflap kit. See application chart above.
