Poor Radio Reception

Poor Radio Reception

Fault symptoms
Poor radio reception.
The cassette player and CD player work normally.

Probable cause of fault
- The main unit is not properly inserted in the radio compartment.
- The antenna cable is poorly connected into the radio compartment/main unit.
- Poor coaxial cable connection.
- The antenna amplifier's power supply (trigger voltage) or ground connection is faulty.
- Break in glass antenna (rear window) 4D, or rear side window 5D.
- Bad connection between the antenna amplifier and glass antenna.

Diagnostic help
Note that the glass-mounted mobile phone antenna on the rear window can cause a deterioration in radio reception.

Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to check if there are intermittent breaks and short-circuits in the leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic instrument during the test.
