Application:
900 M94- (Excluding 1994 Convertible) 4 Cylinder Engine

Separate rotors am now available from spare parts inventory and were introduced into 1996 production as of Engine Serial No. T039951. Follow the directions below to replace this part.

Action:





To remove:

1. Remove the distributor cap.

2. Remove the rotor by crushing it with a pair of pliers with sharp jaws. Be sure to place a cloth or piece of paper around the rotor before crushing it to catch the pieces.

Important
Make sure that no pieces of the rotor drop into the distributor.

All remnants of adhesive and rotor material must be very thoroughly cleaned off of the distributor shaft to ensure proper fastening of the new rotor.

3. Wipe the distributor shaft clean with acetone.

To fit:

1. Wash out the rotor with a little acetone.

2. Apply adhesive, P/N 74 96 276, to the rotor.

3. Make sure that the rotor fits in the groove in the distributor shaft and locks securely onto the shaft.

4. If the temperature of the material is 72-82°F (20-25°C), the hardening time will be 2-3 hours. If the temperature of the material is 42-62°F (5-15°C), the complete hardening time will be at least 8 hours. Note it is not necessary to hold the car overnight waiting for the adhesive to completely harden.
