V6 Engine

1. Make sure the radio code is available before disconnecting the battery cables (negative cable first).

2. Remove the battery and cover.

3. Open the distribution block for B+ and undo the battery connection.

4. Undo the clamp holding the positive cable from the battery tray. Remove the clamp from the cable.

5. Unplug the black 4-pin connector on the positive cable harness on the left rear side of the engine.

6. Cut the cable to the positive cable terminal and the harness to the 4-pin connector that are on the positive cable wiring harness.





7. Unscrew the positive cable mounting bracket on the rear left side of the engine. Detach any cable ties/connectors that are fastened to the bracket.

8. Raise the car.

9. Disconnect the B+ and D+ connections on the generator.

WARNING
There is a risk of burn injuries if the gearbox/engine/exhaust is warm.





10. Disconnect the solenoid and B+ connections on the starter motor.





11. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor terminal.

12. Detach its clips on the generator. Route the cable to the generator.

13. Unwind the knock sensor connector cable if it is wrapped round the positive cable.

14. Pull down the positive cable and remove it.

15. Lower the car to the floor.

16. Insert the new harness between the firewall and the engine.

17. Route the positive cable to the battery tray.

18. Raise the car.

19. Pull down the cables to the starter motor, generator and oil pressure switch and connect them to their respective components.

20. Fasten the oil pressure sensor clips to the generator.

21. Reconnect the knock sensor connector if it has been removed. Check the cable position.

22. Lower the car to the floor.

23. Secure the positive cable bracket to the rear of the engine. Fit any detached cable ties/connectors to the bracket.

Make sure none of the cables are pinched or in close contact with the manifold or sharp edges.

24. Plug in the black 4-pin connector to the corresponding connector on the engine.

25. Fit the old clamp to the positive cable and screw it to the battery tray.

26. Connect the positive cable to the distribution block and attach the cover.

27. Refit the battery. Connect the positive and negative cables to the battery.

28. Grease the terminals with non-acidic Vaseline. Refit the cover.

29. Set the clock and program radio codes.
