Without Passenger Side Airbag

MALFUNCTION
Diagnostic trouble code 43A22: Electric detonator 4, open circuit

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unscrew the steering wheel airbag module and unplug the connector at the rear of the airbag. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
2. Unplug the connector at the control module and check pins 15 and 16 for continuity and/or slide-out. Plug in the connector, switch ON the ignition and clear the trouble code. Switch OFF the ignition and then switch it ON again. Wait at least 40 seconds. Then check whether the trouble code recurs.
If the trouble code does not recur, the fault was in the connector.
If the trouble code recurs, proceed to point 3.
3. Switch OFF the ignition and unplug connector H2-80 with resistor under the glove box. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the connector with resistor.
If the resistance is high, change the resistor complete with connector.
If the resistance is 2-3 ohms, the fault could be in the wiring between the resistor's connector and the control module's connector. Investigate the cause. Change the wiring if necessary.
4. Switch ON the ignition and clear the trouble code. Switch the ignition OFF and then ON again. Wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition ON. Check whether the trouble code recurs.
