Engine Load (Cars With ETS) Output Signal to ETS
FAULT DIAGNOSIS, ENGINE LOAD (cars with ETS)
Output signal to ETS
Fault symptom
The "TCS CTRL" warning lamp is on. The ETS system's emergency program is activated. Basic charging pressure only.
Uneven idling.
Stiff accelerator.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Checking DTCs In The ETS
Connect the scan tool.
Ignition switch in the ON position.
Select "ETS".
Select "READ FAULT CODES".
Make a note of the trouble codes concerning engine load and indicate whether the engine load signal is absent or incorrect.
If a DTC as above is displayed, continue with point 2.
If a DTC as above is not displayed, the above fault symptoms are not caused by the engine load signal.
2. Checking the wiring harness
Check The Wiring between pin 35 of the Trionic control module and pin 27 of the ETS control module for continuity.
Check The Wiring for continuity and shorting.
If the wiring is OK, continue with point 3.
If the wiring is not OK, rectify the fault.
3. Checking The Voltage Level
Connect the Trionic control module. Plug a BOB into the ETS connector(do not connect the ETS control module).
Take a voltage reading across pins 1 and 27 of the BOB.
Start the engine and rev it up to about 2500 rpm. A reading of about 65 mV /85 Hz should be obtained.
If the reading is OK, fault diagnosis of Traction Control System (TCS) is neccessary.
If the reading is not OK, refer to Before Replacing A Control Module.
