Check Engine (MIL) and Shift Up Lamps





FAULT DIAGNOSIS, CHECK ENGINE (MIL) AND SHIFT UP LAMPS
(SHIFT UP - certain markets)

Fault Symptom
.
The lamps do not light up or stay on all the time. Note that both lamps are tested for 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on.


DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1. Checking The Lamps
Connect the Scan Tool.
Ignition switch in the ON position.
Select "ACTIVATE".
Select "CHECK ENGINE LAMP" and "SHIFT UP LAMP".
The relevant lamp should start to flash.

If the lamps flash, in regard to the SHIFT UP lamp, any wheel speed DTC (P0500, P0501, P0502) must first be checked and remedial action taken if necessary.

If the lamps do not flash, check that the bulbs are intact. The continue with point 2.





2. Checking The Wiring Harness
Check The Wiring between the Trionic control module and the main instrument display panel.
CHECK ENGINE lamp: pin 32 of the Trionic control module to pin 12 of the trip computer.
SHIFT UP lamp: pin 55 of the Trionic control module to pin 14 of the main instrument display panel SHIFT UP lamp.

If the wiring is OK, check instruments.

If the wiring is not OK, rectify the fault.
